Red neon spelling out lap dancing gives the game away at 4 Carlisle Street, a quiet corner off Soho Square. Sapphire Soho is an intimate gentlemen's club: a spiral staircase dressed in peep-show signage, Chesterfield sofas in teal-walled lounges, beaded curtains, a mirror-lined booth and a backlit bar stocked with the usual champagne names.

Pole performances set the pace, private dances and VIP time are on offer, and stag groups can book packages with a set number of drinks and dances. There is a noodle soup on the menu, which may be a Soho first. Open Tuesday to Saturday, eight until three.
