Peter Stringfellow opened his club in 1980, and the name still carries more West End mythology than any other door on Upper St Martin's Lane, a minute from Covent Garden and Leicester Square stations.

It has always doubled as a restaurant: steaks, lamb chops, seafood and caviar are served late in a dining room inside the club, with dancers at the tables and the stage in full view. There are three bars and VIP rooms for private dances. Entry is £25, free for members. Dress for a night out, but leave the fancy dress at home. Open nightly from nine until half past four.
