Just east of Carson City, in the hills at Mound House, the Moonlite BunnyRanch is the Nevada brothel most Americans know by name, largely thanks to HBO's Cathouse. The house says it has kept its doors open around the clock, every day of the year, since 1955.

No appointment or lineup is required: a guest may simply take a drink at the full-service bar, which advertises neighborhood prices rather than strip-club ones, or sit a while in the parlor. Some forty to fifty licensed women are on the premises at a time, each an independent contractor who sets her own terms. Beyond the parlor are VIP suites, Jacuzzi rooms and hot tubs; there are private entrances for guests who value anonymity, and a helicopter pad out front for the few who arrive that way. Visitors must be 18, and 21 to drink.
