Hi, I'm Lizzie...

I'm a thirty-something from the Washington D.C. suburbs, and I like to think I'm smart, funny and someone who tries to live life to the full.

On paper, I have it all. A great suburban life, a healthy and happy family, a career that's going well. I sit on board committees for non-profits I care about, I volunteer at school, and I'm always glad to have neighbours and friends over for dinner. Looking in from outside, you'd think I couldn't ask for more.

Still, I keep thinking about the younger me. The one from before responsibilities and deadlines. She was fun. Spontaneous.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't me complaining about my poor suburban life. I know how lucky I am. But that restless feeling is hard to shake, and the sameness of it all can be suffocating some days.

It's hard to believe I first set up this page more than a decade ago. I was so young and carefree then, just a girl who wanted a good time, to finish school, and to get the hell out of her parents' house.

That girl feels like a lifetime ago.

Honestly, I'm not sure I'm the same person anymore. This is my way of finding her again and bringing her back where she belongs. Yes, I'm a mother, a wife, a daughter, and plenty of people depend on me. But once all those roles are filled, what's left? Who am I apart from everyone else? Am I happy? Am I fulfilled?

Can I still be that free-spirited, fun-loving girl?

I'm ready to pick up where I left off. A little nervous, maybe, but absolutely ready. So I guess the only question left is...

...are you ready to join me?
