The best part of the day here is when the heat finally breaks and Salmiya fills up again, shutters going up, grilled meat drifting from the street below, the whole neighbourhood suddenly awake at nine at night. I arrived from Spain expecting to hate the climate and instead I have reorganised my entire life around the evenings. I'm twenty-five, small, and considerably less serious than my photographs suggest. I'll host you here, or take a taxi to wherever you're staying, and either way I'd rather the first half hour felt like meeting somebody. That isn't a rule. It's just how I enjoy it.
