Half a block from Moscone Center, on Howard Street in SoMa, Gold Club works both shifts of the San Francisco day. On Thursdays and Fridays the doors open at 11:30 a.m. for a free lunch buffet that once won a local award for best business lunch; by night the room goes purple and gold, with topless dancers on the poles, skyboxes and champagne rooms for private dances, and a kitchen turning out flatiron steak and fried chicken until late. It is topless only, 21 and over, and guests of every gender are welcome. The bottle list runs from Chandon to Opus One, sports jerseys are fine at the door, and on Friday and Saturday the lights stay on until 4 a.m., long after the neighborhood bars have given up.
