There is a particular hour in Salmiya, after the heat lets go and before the evening gets loud, when I most like having someone in the flat. Tea if you want it. The air conditioning turned up far too high, the way I always keep it.

I am Colombian, twenty-five, and I did not come all this way to be in a hurry. At home nobody rushes a visit; you sit, you talk, you work out what mood the other person is in before you decide anything. I have kept the habit.

I am not loud, and I am not the girl who fills every silence. What I am is attentive. I notice when someone has had a long week, and I know what to do about it. Come to me, or tell me where you are and I will come to you.
