The corridor carpet, the lift that takes forever, a door number written on the back of my hand, and that is secretly the part of the evening I enjoy most. I come to you; I don't host. French, and I have been in Kuwait long enough that Arabic arrives before English when I'm tired. Give me the hotel and the hour and I'll be at your door, dressed for wherever we are actually going.
