Great Windmill Street has been trading on spectacle since the 1930s, and the old Windmill Theatre at numbers 17 to 19 is where Soho's appetite for a show first became legend. Spearmint Rhino now holds that reputation, and has dressed the building to match: chandeliers over a lit stage, deep banquettes, an amber back bar and raised sky boxes.

The programme leans theatrical. Weekends bring live shows, with two performances a night on Fridays and Saturdays, and the dancers share the bill with burlesque turns and cabaret acts. The kitchen serves small plates well past midnight, and the cocktail list is more serious than it needs to be.

Tables and bottle packages can be booked ahead, the sensible move on a Saturday. Doors open Monday to Saturday until half past five in the morning; Sunday is the night off.
